Emily Eckmann PT, DPT, MS
Welcome! I'm Emily and I am a physical therapist who specializes in pelvic health. I got into this world by struggling with my own experience with pelvic pain and living with chronic illness and was inspired by how I could help people navigate the difficult worlds of pelvic pain, digestive issues, pregnancy and postpartum and empower them to find new independence and freedom in their bodies to do more of the things they love and enjoy. More about my story below.
My Background
I grew up in the Pacific Northwest where being active and constantly moving around was the centerpiece of most of my childhood and young adult life. That's why it was a brutal awakening when my life came to a screeching halt about 10 years ago when I started showing frightening symptoms of what I learned (2 years later) was an autoimmune disease that there was "no cure for" and was given a life-sentence of heavy immunosuppressants that may or may not work and not much more from my doctors than a shoulder shrug and a wave goodbye. I quickly found this world of having unexplained symptoms with unknown causes, vague explanations with no promised end in sight a seriously frustrating and terrifying experience in a medical world that was confusing, scary and expensive to navigate.

This is a huge part of why I chose pelvic health as my speciality. Patients with pelvic symptoms (including myself) are often an underserved and misunderstood population of individuals who have diagnoses that are difficult to understand and rarely talked about. I've been there. And what I needed most at the time of my own darkest hour was someone who wouldn't quit on me. Someone who would help me find a solution that was going to work for me. I am honored to be that person for my patients; to get them across the finish line of living a pain-free life, or helping them achieve new comfort and confidence in their body.
